It started with the love of Tarot…
“Our mission is to promote, support, and spread awareness of Indie Tarot and Oracle decks. We hope to connect people with cards they love.”
I stumbled into the world of Tarot about six years ago during a vacation to visit my family in Thailand. While I was there, I found out that my uncle is a tarot reader. Naturally, I had to get a reading. I was blown away by how spot-on and insightful it was. My curiosity sparked, and when he noticed how intrigued I was, he kindly offered to teach me. Just like that, he became my mentor, and I dove headfirst into the tarot rabbit hole.
As I started learning, I also started collecting. At first, I picked up mass-market decks, but soon, I discovered the world of indie decks, and that’s when things really changed. These self-published decks are often rich in detail, wildly creative, and beautifully diverse. They’re also a bit pricier and way harder to find especially if you’re outside of the U.S.
So… The Hermit Shop was born! We started out small, selling decks here in Oregon, USA, to fellow tarot and oracle lovers. But it wasn’t long before I knew I wanted to bring that same joy to my hometown in Thailand. With the help of a tarot reader friend, we expanded the shop and started importing indie decks into Thailand, making it a little easier for Thai collectors to access the magic too. For many Tarot lovers in Thailand, getting their hands on an indie deck can be a real challenge which is why I hope to bridge that gap...
Because everyone deserves a deck they truly connect with—no matter where they are.
Our mission
We’re passionate about sharing the magic of indie tarot and oracle decks, and our mission is to help fellow deck lovers discover unique creations they can truly connect with. As a small, woman- and Asian-owned business, we’re dedicated to offering as many thoughtfully curated decks as our resources allow.
While we’re growing at our own pace, we face real challenges, like limited budget and storage, but we remain hopeful and determined to expand. Our dream is to create a space where every deck has a chance to shine and every reader & collector can find something that resonates.
Supporting other small businesses is at the heart of what we do, which is why we focus on stocking products from independent creators around the world. We started our journey in cozy Oregon, USA and now we’re growing across the ocean, expanding to our hometown in Thailand to bring even more magic to fellow tarot enthusiasts there. We’re so excited to build this bridge between both homes because we know that international shipping can be complicated for some, so we aim to bridge that gap by handling the logistics ourselves and bringing those decks directly to our customers.
Currently, we’re a tiny shop with a big heart and a growing collection of decks we’re excited to share. Thanks for being part of the journey, we can’t wait to see where it takes us (and our tarot stash)!

So, what’s next for The Hermit Shop? Right now, we’re fully online, shipping indie decks from the U.S. and Thailand straight to your doorstep. But who knows what the future holds? Maybe a cozy storefront, pop-up markets, or even tarot events (we’re dreaming big!).
We’re beginning to explore beyond just decks, think tarot bags, cloth, candles, stones, mugs, and other mystical little treasures to complement your practice. We’ve also had a few folks ask if we’ll ever stock mass-market decks. While our heart is with indie creators, we hear you and it’s definitely something we’ll consider down the road.
Wherever this journey leads, we’re just getting started and we’re so grateful to have you along for the ride. ✨
